total active motion

Abbreviation: TAM
A measure of hand range of motion in which the sum of the extension at the metacarpophalangeal (MCP), proximal interphalangeal (PIP), and distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints is subtracted from the total achievable flexion of the same joints.
