One randomized, double-blind, crossover trial compared single doses of tolmetin
(Tolectin, 100, 150, 200 mg) and acetaminophen (400 mg) alone and in combination with placebo in the control of experimentally induced pain (thermal and electrical stimulation).
Aspirin may be low or intermediate risk, depending on the study, and tolmetin
and piroxicam may be intermediate or high risk.
In July the company began marketing tolmetin
sodium (the generic version of McNeil Pharmaceutical's Tolectin) in 600 mg.
