A descriptive term for the appearance of organised perifollicular haemorrhages (i.e., Gamna-Gandy bodies) seen in passive splenic hyperaemia due to portal hypertension. Tobacco nodules consist of iron- and calcium-encrusted collagen and fibrosis surrounding atrophic malpighian follicles.
