a whitish metallic element. Its atomic number is 50; its atomic mass is 118.69. Tin (IV) oxide is used in dentistry as a polishing agent for teeth and in some restorative procedures. See also stannous fluoride.

a cesticide used in poultry and cage birds. It is fed to chickens and is toxic if fed accidentally to calves. Causes tremor, diarrhea and convulsions.
