A perennial herb, the root of which is analgesic, antipyretic and an immune stimulant; it is used for amenorrhoea, bloating, cancer, chest pain, cirrhosis, irritability, low-grade fever, malaria, menstrual dysfunction (e.g., cramping, premenstrual syndrome), nausea, rectal and uterine prolapse, and vertigo.
