Hematology A regionally popular term for a peripheral blood smear, which has been layered with multiple drops of blood, allowing the glass slide to dry between layerings; TPs are used to identify certain blood-borne infections–eg, babesiosis, borreliosis, malaria. Cf Thin prep, ThinPrep.
