MUC4(redirected from testis mucin)
MUC4A gene on chromosome 3q29 that encodes an integral membrane glycoprotein found on cell surfaces, which may play a role in tumour progression by repressing apoptosis. MUC4 may alter cellular behaviour through both its anti-adhesive effects on cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions and its ability to act as a ligand for ERBB2, the phosphorylation of which plays an important role in epithelial cell proliferation and differentiation.
