Polyethylene glycol Therapeutics An inert long-chain synthetic molecule that may be attached to various proteins making them invisible to the immune system; multiple PEGs have been attached to ADA–adenosine deaminase, one of the enzymes responsible for SCID, allowing long-term survival of the molecule within the body; PEG has been attached to Hb, and has potential as a transport vehicle for artificial blood.
