Black heel Sports medicine A condition affecting adolescents engaging in sports requiring major 'footwork'–eg, lacrosse, tennis, football, basketball; TN is caused by shear-stress rupture of papillary capillaries due to sudden stops and twists on the heels, resulting in skin punctuated by black spots corresponding to petechiae.
