(sŭ-pēr'ē-ŏr rek'tăl ahr'tĕr-ē) [TA]Origin, inferior mesenteric; distribution, upper part of rectum; anastomoses, middle and inferior rectal. As a tributary of the portal vein, its anastomosis with these arteries forms a portosystemic or portocaval anastomosis.
