Over time, different terminologies have been used for DHS; Lowe and Allday first described it in 1950 under the name of DDS syndrome or sulfone syndrome. Later, investigations revealed its relationship with a hypersensitivity reaction so it was termed dapsone hypersensitivity syndrome.
