A gene on chromosome 21q22.13 that encodes chromatin assembly factor 1, subunit B, a core component of the Chromatin Assembly Factor I (CAF-1) complex, which is thought to mediate chromatin assembly in DNA replication and DNA repair. Chromatin assembly factor 1, subunit B, is a member of the WD-repeat HIR1 family.
