One surgical option is subtotal laryngectomy and/or partial pharyngectomy, which offers several advantages: a precise delineation of the tumor, accurate margin assessment, optimal neck management, and the maintenance of adequate airway and swallowing functions (although the resultant voice quality is usually poor).
