square knot

a double knot consisting of two symmetric half hitches, which tends to tighten under tension.

square knot

A double knot in which the free ends of the second loop are symmetric and in the same plane as the free ends of the first loop.

square knot

A double knot in which the ends of the second knot are in the same place as the ends of the first knot.

square knot

a secure knot made by a single throw of one of the two ends over the other, then a return and another single throw with both ends coming out on the same side of the loop, either both over or both under it. Called also reef knot.
