anterolateral cordotomySpinothalamic tractomy Pain management A type of neuroablative procedure in which a lesion is created in the spinothalamic tract as a means of interrupting pain transmission; open cordotomies require laminectomies, but result in excellent analgesia and can be done in the thoracic region for leg pain.
