Cardiology A descriptor for the carotid arterial pulse curve seen in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy–HC, which rises abruptly and falls during midsystole–spike, later rising a 2nd time at a slower rate during late systole–dome; the jugular pulse in HC is characterized by a prominent a–atrial wave.
