snatchAn Olympic lift in which a barbell’s weight is raised from the floor to locked arms overhead in a single smooth and continuous movement. The snatch has two components: the pull, in which the barbell is pulled as high as the lifter can manage (usually to mid-chest height), which is followed by flipping the barbell overhead into the locked position.
