single unit transfusion

Transfusion medicine A controversial therapeutic agent given to a Pts if a single unit of packed RBCs suffices as therapy, the transfusion probably was unnecessary. See Transfusion 'trigger. '. Cf Single donor transfusion.

single unit transfusion

The infusion of one unit of packed red blood cells (PRBCs). On average, one unit of PRBCs will increase the hemoglobin level by 1 g/dL.
