sheep sorrel

Herbal medicine
A European weed that contains oxalic acid. It is astringent and used topically for pruritic (itchy) rashes (e.g., caused by poison ivy and abrasions) and internally for constipation, diarrhoea, upper GI ulcers and hypermenorrhoea.
 
Toxicity
Nausea, vomiting, headache; excessive ingestion may cause renal failure due to its high content of oxalic acid.
