SGK1(redirected from serine/threonine protein kinase SGK)
SGK1A gene on chromosome 6q23 that encodes serum/glucocorticoid-inducible kinase 1, a serine/threonine protein kinase that activates certain K+, Na=, and Cl- channels in response to cell stress, and which appears to be involved in cell survival, neuronal excitability and renal sodium excretion. It is highly expressed in hypertension and diabetic nephropathy.
