As per records the detailed history of each patient was studied and clinical examination findings including inspection, palpation, digital rectal and proctoscopic examination performed were noted, where examination revealed features of chronicity like sentinel pile, indurated edges which were painful on examination were noted.
Sentinel pile was present in 63.5% patients in DTZ group and in 54% patients in GTN group.
On examination or anal inspection, a canoe -shaped ulcer is seen in 6 0' clock or 12 0' clock position with a skin tag which is called the sentinel pile. Digital examination may be extremely painful and often resisted and it should be done gently with enough lubrication.
