sem·i·nif·er·ous tu·bules

one of two to four twisted, curved tubules in each lobule of the testis, in which spermatogenesis occurs.

seminiferous tubules

Etymology: L, semen, seed, ferre, to bear, tubulus
long, threadlike tubes packed in areolar tissue in the lobes of the testes.

seminiferous tubules

The many, long, coiled-up, fine tubes, hundreds of which are present in each testicle and are said to total in length over 400 m. The spermatozoa develop from cells in the walls of these tubules.

seminiferous tubules

coiled tubules in which SPERMATOGENESIS takes place in the testes of male vertebrates. They are made up of germinal epithelium and hundreds are present in each testis. The germ epithelium proliferates, forms spermatogonia and grows into spermatocytes which give rise to spermatids by GAMETOGENESIS. The spermatids mature to spermatozoa embedded in nutritive SERTOLI CELLS.

Seminiferous tubules of group A mice mostly showed incomplete spermatogenesis containing spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and a few round spermatids (fig-a).
The primary type A diploid spermatogonia lie at the base of the seminiferous tubules, where they can either renew themselves and/or differentiate into type B spermatogonia (Phillips et al.
The average diameter of seminiferous tubules was obtained of 24 animals as from as measurements of cross section of 30 seminiferous tubules that showed the contour more regular as possible.
Although lymphoma cells may invade into the seminiferous tubules, they do not show the regular basal alignment within the tubules as in intratubular germ cell neoplasia, unclassified type.
CP causes histopathologically reduction in size and number of the seminiferous tubules, degeneration and vacuolation in spermatogonia, spermatocytes and less number of germ cells, irregular seminiferous tubules, reduced seminiferous epithelial layers and significant maturation arrest (Atessahin et al.
Basically, germ cell transplants consist in gathering germ cells from a donor and injecting them into the seminiferous tubules of a receptor; PGC's colonize the basal membrane of receptor's seminiferous tubules in search of a nich where they can develop into stem cells.
Hypoplasia like action was seen in seminiferous tubules.
In the seminiferous tubules of sexually mature animals, the spermatogenic cells are not randomly arranged, but organized as a well-defined series of cellular associations or stages.
As noted in the previous section, the lobules of the testis are filled with tightly compacted bundles of seminiferous tubules (Figure 5-15a).
The differential diagnosis includes epididymal cystadenoma, adenocarcinoma of the rete testis, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and dilatation of the seminiferous tubules secondary to testicular tumor.
