saw-scaled viper venom

saw-scaled viper venom

A snake venom with a powerful effect in inactivating the action of blood platelets in forming clots within the circulation. A synthetic drug tirofiban (Aggrastat) has been developed from this venom which has been shown to have a substantial advantage over the anticoagulant HEPARIN in preventing heart attacks and deaths in cases of UNSTABLE ANGINA.
