ring mitosis

ring mitosis

A bizarre mitotic figure in which chromosomes are displaced to the periphery of dividing cells due to therapy with Taxol, an anti-neoplastic agent. The change is caused by microtubule polymerisation with the chromosomes anchored at the ends of the microtubules. Ring mitoses can also be seen in colchicine toxicity.
