Unusual retrovesical cystic mass in a male patient.
In one prospective study (n = 68), local resection was performed via retrovesical and parametrial dissection with subsequent repair of the anterior wall defect, with 26% of patients requiring secondary hysterectomy, the majority due to extensive uterine destruction, and two cases of inadvertent ureteric ligation [24].
In the literature, there are other reported sites such as sacrum, bladder, uterus, cervix, vagina, testicles, seminal vesicles and retrovesical area (2,3,4,5,6).
In our case series, in a male patient, a cyst that was 5 cm in diameter in the retrovesical recess, which occupied the region between the sigmoid colon and bladder and adhered to the anterolateral wall of the bladder, was detected.
MRI showed the same findings of CT and a 1.9 cm elongated cyst with hyperintense content on all pulse sequences, inferring protein content, and extending from the right retrovesical region to the mesogastric region, perhaps corresponding to the persistence of the mesonephric duct, related to ipsilateral renal agenesis [Figures 2, 3, and 4].

Computed tomography (CT) revealed a well-delineated and homogeneous retrovesical solid mass that measured 5 x 3 cm in diameter (Figure 1).
Other pathogenic hypotheses for isolated retroperitoneal or retrovesical cysts have also been proposed.
The retrovesical location of hydatid cyst is very rare.
Retrovesical cystic lesions in female patients with unilateral renal agenesis or dysplasia.
In this article we aimed to report our approach to diagnose and to treat a primary huge hydatid cyst in retrovesical space between sigmoid colon and bladder.
