resting line

A smooth cement line seen in microscopic sections of bone; it marks a place where bone growth stopped temporarily and then resumed.

posture adopted when the standing animal rests its weight on three limbs and allows the other to relax. The relaxed limb is said to be being rested.

basophilic lines in the cement in bones. The lines are smooth and level and indicate that the previous activity in the bone was formative.
