an endoscope with a wide-angle telescope and an electrically activated wire loop for transurethral removal or biopsy of lesions of the bladder, prostate, or urethra.

A surgical instrument that is passed along the male URETHRA to allows a view of the inside of the bladder and of an enlarged PROSTATE GLAND. The resectoscope incorporates an electrically heated wire loop used to cut away redundant prostate tissue so as to allow the free outflow of urine.
