In the present study, we enrolled 53 patients [20 (37.7%) women and 33 (62.3%) men, mean age, 56.7 years; range, 18 -84 years] with benign colon diseases, including diverticulosis, benign polyps, Crohn disease, ulcerative rectocolitis, colonic endometriosis, and others (Table 1) at the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department, Hospital Saint-Eloi, University Medical Centre, Montpellier, France.
