prothrombin fragment 1.2

pro·throm·bin frag·ment 1.2

(F1.2) (prō-throm'bin frag'mĕnt)
A peptide released when prothrombin is cleaved by factor Xa. This fragment binds to phospholipid through calcium and interacts with factor Va. Elevated plasma levels of F1.2 have been described in patients with thrombosis or in prethrombotic states.

As the CPB duration increased a progressive impairment in platelet function 25 occurred , excessive bleeding after long CPB intervals may be related, in part, to a thrombinmediated consumptive state (systemic thrombin generation has been shown to occur in stepwise, time dependent fashion), since fibrin monomer, thrombin/antithrombin complexes, and prothrombin fragment 1.
measured plasma concentrations of fibrinogen, D-dimer, thrombin-antithrombin III complexes, and prothrombin fragment 1.
The work-up should also include a prothrombin time/partial thromboplastin time and lupus anticoagulant profile in all of its manifestations; a measurement of protein C, S, and antithrombin III levels; a check for activated protein C resistance; as well as use of Markers of Coagulation and Hemostasis Activation (MOCHA) or your laboratory's equivalent in looking for prothrombin fragment 1.
7) studied an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with use of monoclonal capture antibody for prothrombin fragment 1.
