in recombinant DNA technology, an artificially synthesized nucleotide sequence incorporated in a plasmid that contains multiple cleavage sites for different restriction enzymes enabling a choice of the most appropriate restriction enzyme for cloning. Called also restriction site bank or polylinker site.
