platelet distribution width

,

PDW

A measure of the variation in the size of platelets found in the circulating blood. Platelets recently released from bone marrow tend to be larger and to contain more RNA than older, smaller platelets, which discard their endoplasmic reticulum as they mature.

These parameters were white blood cell count (WBC), hemoglobin (Hgb), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), neutrophil and lymphocyte count, neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet count, platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR), red cell distribution width (RDW), platelet distribution width (PDW) and mean platelet volume (MPV).
Significant differences were not detected between the patients and healthy controls concerning the platelet count, mean platelet volume and platelet distribution width.
Keywords: Bronchiolitis, inflammation, mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width
Earlier, it had been shown that, platelet distribution width, PDW, was a better indicator of altered platelet homeostasis than MPV in cirrhosis, and it was markedly increased in cirrhosis as compared to controls8.
Blood samples collected with anticoagulant were processed for determination of mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC), red cell distribution width (RDW), platelets (PLT), plateletcrit (PCT), mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) through automated haemotology analyzer Celltac a Mek 6420K (Nihon Kohden Japan) according to manufacturer's instructions.
8 mg/dl) and CBC parameters (leukocytes, platelets, neutrophil, lymphocytes, and monocytes), red cell distribution width (RDW), platelet distribution width (PDW), and derivates (NLR, PLR) of the patients were recorded.
Keywords: Platelet count, platecrit (PCT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), fasting plasma glucose, diabetes mellitus, hypertension.
Objective: To exmaine the distribution of age, gender, time between onset and presentation, clinical findings, predisposing factors, platelet distribution width, mean platelet volume values and neuroimaging findings, together with the treatment regime and the outcome for patients of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.
Platelet distribution width is also derived from the platelet volume histogram, as the geometric standard deviation multiplied by 10.
Counting of blood cells is based on the volumetric impedance method, directly measuring white blood cells (WBC), red blood cells (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB), platelets, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean platelet volume, and automatically calculating hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), MCH concentration (MCHC), RBC distribution width, plateletcrit, and platelet distribution width.
6) This study was conducted to statistically analyse other haematological parameters like Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), Platelet Distribution Width (PDW) along with the platelet count.
