1 a closure of the teeth that complements and enhances the functions of the masticatory system.
2 a closure of the teeth that produces no pathologic effects on the stomatognathic system, normally dissipating the stresses placed on the teeth and creating a balance between the stresses and the adaptive capacity of the supporting tissues.
3 an acceptable occlusion in a healthy gnathic system.
