phosphodiesterase type 4 inhibitorsA class of drugs that act to increase intracellular concentrations of cyclic AMP and have a broad range of anti-inflammatory activity. These drugs are showing promise in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They include roflumilast and cilomilast.
