The diagnosis in our patient was based on elevated
pancreatic enzymes and imagistic tests, as literature suggests (12).
The surgery lasted 150 minutes, and the blood loss was 100 mL.The patient recovered uneventfully and is doing well at a 60-month follow-up being on the
pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy.
The standard blood tests used in dogs, which measure amounts of certain
pancreatic enzymes (amylase and lipase) aren't helpful in cats, although some blood tests for feline pancreatic function can help.
In 1999, Gonzalez and Isaacs reported the results of 11 patients with pancreatic cancer who were treated with a program that included large doses of
pancreatic enzymes, dietary modifications, and coffee enemas.
(1) Medical imaging such as ultrasound and CT scan may also be useful.1 In chronic pancreatitis, amylase and lipase
pancreatic enzymes can be taken in pill form to assist with digestion and in some cases, surgery may be considered.
Decreased glomerular filtration rate <50 mL/min is described as a cause of elevated serum
pancreatic enzymes, although this association seems more evident for serum amylase than lipase.
In this article, a patient diagnosed as JBS in the neonatal period and who was followed with
pancreatic enzymes, vitamin and nutrition supplements as well as rehabilitation therapy without any problems, is presented.
The
pancreatic enzymes were also elevated (Amylase-548 f/l and Lipase-415 [micro]/l), whereas renal function tests and hemogram were both normal.
During the therapy, each day you will need to drink 20lbs (about 9kg) of crushed fruit and vegetables, have three or four coffee enemas and take potassium and other supplements, including vitamin B12,
pancreatic enzymes and thyroid supplements.
The diagnosis is most commonly based upon characteristic history of acute abdomen accompanied with rise in levels of
pancreatic enzymes namely amylase and lipase in serum.
In patients with pancreaticobiliary junction abnormality, reflux of bile to the pancreatic duct, and bile stasis in the distal bile duct may activate
pancreatic enzymes and result in pancreatitis.
He was compliant with
pancreatic enzymes. He endorsed excellent dietary calcium intake, and his 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) level was at goal 57ng/mL on cholecalciferol 3000IU daily.
