pancreatic diabetes

Etymology: Gk, pan, all, kreas, flesh, diabainein, to pass through
diabetes mellitus caused by a deficiency of insulin production by the islet cells of the pancreas. See also diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes associated with destruction of the exocrine and endocrine functions of the pancreas, such as occurs in chronic or recurrent pancreatitis.
