palatal cyst of the newborn

a common finding in newborns in which small cysts form during embryological development or during development of the minor salivary glands of the hard palate, each of which entrap epithelium which form tiny cysts. Epstein's pearls form along the median palatal raphe, while Bohn's nodules are scattered over the hard palate near its junction with the soft palate.
