children’s assessment and observation unit

A child-friendly unit used for paediatric emergencies in the UK which meet clinical criteria for management by a paediatric nurse practitioner. Such units recognise that assessment of children differs from that of adults and the four-hour target for A&E visits by adults cannot be easily applied to children.
