orbital evisceration

A surgical technique in which the eye (iris, cornea and internal eye contents) is removed from the orbit—while preserving the sclera and all other orbital structures—and replaced by a prosthesis, which is indicated for endophthalmitis unresponsive to antibiotics and cosmesis for a blind eye.
