Calmette's reaction

An obsolete, imprecise, painful test for active tuberculosis, in which diluted tuberculin was instilled in the conjunctival sac.

local immune hypersensitivity reaction of the conjunctiva after instillation into the eye of toxins or organisms causing glanders and tuberculosis, being more severe in those animals affected with these diseases. Called also ophthalmic reaction.
