observation hip

a condition in which a patient experiences a limp, pain in the hip, and limited hip motion. Causes include toxic synovitis, infection, and avascular necrosis.
A transient form of hip disease affecting children and adolescents characterised by transient focal osteolysis of the hip bones which may be accompanied by mild synovitis or osteoarthritis but no bony or cartilaginous lesions on imaging
Aetiology Idiopathic, 2º to minor trauma and infection Management None, observation usually suffices
