new consultants’ contract

The standard contract offered by NHS employers to all new consultants appointed after 2003. Consultants agree to a job plan with their clinical head (head of department or clinical director) regarding direct clinical care programmed activities (Pas), supporting professional activities (SPAs), additional local responsibilities such as serving on Trust committees, external duties such as off-site Royal College committees, fee-paying services such as private work, coronial post-mortem exams, and Category-2 work.
