Etymology: Gk, neuron + epi, upon, thele, nipple, oma, tumor
an uncommon neoplasm of neuroepithelium in a sensory nerve. Also called neuroepithelial tumor.

neuroepithelioma

A tumour of primitive nerve tissue similar to a NEUROBLASTOMA. Neuroepitheliomas may occur in the central nervous system, in the RETINA as RETINOBLASTOMAS, or may affect the OLFACTORY NERVE or occasionally peripheral nerves.
