Neurology A clinical test that consists of the administration of neostigmine methylsulfate, a muscarinic, that exacerbates the Sx of myasthenia gravis–MG. See Muscarinic, Myasthenia gravis. Cf Tensilon–edrophonium test.

neostigmine

an anticholinesterase used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis and glaucoma and as an antidote for nondepolarizing muscle relaxants, such as tubocurarine.
