neosis (nē-ō′sĭs) [” + Gr. -sis, condition or state]
A novel form of cell division in cancer cells, in which genetic material from the malignant cell separates by budding from its nucleus, followed by cytokinesis and the production of daughter cells with a uniquely long mitotic life span.
