Gingivitis of young and middle-aged adults characterized clinically by gingival erythema and pain, fetid odor, necrosis, and sloughing of interdental papillae and marginal gingiva that gives rise to a gray pseudomembrane.
Synonym(s): fusospirochetal gingivitis, trench mouth, ulceromembranous gingivitis, Vincent gingivitis.
