multiple polyposis

A dominant hereditary condition in which large numbers of POLYPS of MUCOUS MEMBRANE occur in the colon and rectum. These appear in adolescence and some of them invariably become malignant within about 15 years. The usual treatment is to remove the colon and rectum.
