alveolar rhabdomyosarcomaAn aggressive rhabdomyosarcoma that arises in the extremities, pelvis, and trunk of children to young adults (10 to 25).
DiffDx Ewing sarcoma, melanoma, neuroblastoma.
Prognosis Poor; metastasises to lungs and regional lymph nodes. Alveolar RMS’s bad behaviour (compared to embryonal RMS) is attributed to the t(2;13) translocation.
