brownian rachet model(redirected from molecular rachet molecule)
brownian rachet modelA proposed explanation for the mode of action of the ATP-powered pull in the Hsp70 family of chaperones. According to the model, Hsp70 binds to segments of the polypeptide that emerge on the trans side of the membrane by random oscillation in the transport channel; acting like Maxwell’s demon, Hsp70 converts a random Brownian motion into a unidirectional movement.
