In English the single word that might refer neutrally to race mixing, miscegenation, sounds as if its prefix is "mis," as in "mistake" or "misstep" or "misapprehension," not the less common prefix "misce," meaning mix, as in miscellaneous and, of course, "miscegenation." Given the racial politics of the English-speaking world, it is not surprising that English speakers tend to hear "miscegenation" as meaning wrongly or badly engendered.
