microwave prostatectomy

microwave prostatectomy

The reduction of prostate volume by microwaving it.

Pros
Less operative time, lower costs, little risk of impotence and urinary incontinence, which occur with TURP.

Cons
Tissue is not available for histologic exam, which means that an enlarged prostate must be known as benign.
